Re: Traction control (off road) | |

My 110 traction control is basically non existent whilst off-road which is where it spend most of its time.
I used to have a fully kitted out Discovery TD5 and it was one of the models that didn’t come with the centre diff connection as standard. So I had to buy an additional cable and lever and connect up. Part of doing that connection you were instructed to cut a blue cable in one of the ECU’s which then did something with the traction control when centre diff was activated.
Just wondering if there is a similar thing for the Puma defenders as it really doesn’t work off-road no matter how much welly or spin the wheels get the light flashes up but not a lot seems to happen.
I’m looking at getting Ashcroft Lockers but compared to a few other vehicles I off road with they don’t seem to need lockers as there TC is so good.
Your 110 would have a similar acting setup to the D2 With a ETC system only working on comparing LH to RH wheel speeds but only working individual axles. The thinking is on the defender the CDL would naturally be locked or in the D2 the CDL might not be present to be locked.
I would do things like making sure the brake pads are good and the pistons are free in the calipers.
Post 2011 the ETC went over to a Bosch system which compares all 4 corners and anecdotally does seem to be a bit more reactive when it comes to controlling wheel spin.
Either way even the early puma systems was good and you shouldn't of had any problems unless your really asking the impossible. Also can be found on Fb, Ytube, Insta & Twitter @4WDSouthwest
