Where to add switch for auxiliary lights?
I'm planning on adding a 10" Baja Designs light bar to the grille area and I'm wondering where is a good spot to add the switch to turn it on and off. I'll have a relay to switch power to the light bar just wanted to see what others have done to install the toggle switch to control the lights.

It depends to an extent on what your dash currently looks like. If it's factory fresh then there may be a space in the central panel in the dash, depending on whether you already have any optional stuff there. Or is there a spare slot in the small panel to the left of the steering wheel (assuming yours is LHD) where the hazard switch is?

Beyond that, there are lots of aftermarket options from simple single switch brackets that you screw to a suitable surface to full on 'pods' that give lots of space for other toys. Take a look at the websites of Mud UK and Raptor Engineering for some ideas. Darren

The panel down the drivers side near your knee is a favoured spot, where the dash illumination control is.

I’ve seen people fit those trailer brake controllers down there.

If the locations mentioned above where the hazard and illumination control are taken, there is a squarish opening that I think takes a carling switch in the metal stiffener plate just below the binnacle. It is a little bit out of sight. On RHD vehicles, it is just right of the steering column.

Careful about drilling holes in the lower dash, as it is the duct for the heater blower. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Ha, no! I just looked at the icon below his username, which said he has a 300tdi Rolling Eyes

What's more funny is that your answer works for both vehicles Laughing Darren

I assumed every one would know that I was talking about the new Defender 110. I have a Wise Owl dash in the old Defender with a row of Carling switches above the center mounted radio. But while I'm doing the winch kit to the new car I was going to add an extra light. But to further add to the confusion I also have two Series IIA Land Rovers.

I would suggest using a switch-pro controller in the new defender.

1 wire bundle through the firewall with everything controlled externally makes it much easier.

The alternative is the warn winch has 2 auxillary outputs.
