with Timing belts its best to get the Genuine stuff if you can, i have had bearmach stuff fail on me, on my TD5, which due to their build quality, and that was only the rear brake lights! Some stuff is great though.

Might be best to get your mate to check what the hell has happened, your mate could have a warranty claim in with bearmach which could bill them for damage for the engine Thumbs Up Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
