There might not be any "greenlanes" but the west coast of Scotland is second to none, If ur planning a trip stay west....Glencoe, Fort Bill, Arisaig, up west to Lochcarron and over the high pass to Applecross, Gairloch, Ullapool up to lochinver...............thousands of options, get a ferry ticket and explore the islands, whales, dolphins, baskin sharks.....killer whales! seals and eagles...................and No I dont work for the scottish tourist board! Life is not a rehearsal!

Skye. As long as the weather's good. Which is about 1 day in 8.

The Isle of Skye is beautiful but expensive. We recently stayed at Morvich about 10 miles from The Kyle of Lochalsh which is the gateway to Skye across the Skye bridge. Fuel is on average 11 pence dearer per litre than elsewhere. The cost of basic food items is also retrospective to the distances involved. Other than that the scenery has to be experienced to be believed. The drive up from Glasgow will involve numerous stops for photo opportunities and is well worth experiencing at least once.
