the wipers on the bus go 'tap tap tap'
yeah a little bit annoying

the passenger side wiper makes this tapping sound when on either intermittant or normal as if the metal arm is hitting the screen which it isn't.
I have changed the blades and tightened the nuts holding the arm to the spindle thingy that sticks out on both sides but the only change was that the tapping sound is now on the down stroke instead of the up stroke. It often stops for a short while if I'm going up hill but then comes back.

Has anyone else had this ? I had the same on an old Mini but that was just a characteristic I think

Try using Rain-X - I find I hardly ever use the wipers! MY11 110 XS Station Wagon in Stornoway

are you referring to a 'click' when the wiper turns to the far right?
Mine does that and it is really annoying but i keep forgetting to mention it to the dealer - never seems to rain when i have taken it in ! Confused BM52

no its more of a tap than a click - not that I have ever had to differentiate between those two sounds before Laughing and its as the wiper starts to move either from the bottom or top of the screen that you hear it if that makes sense

Mines done this on and off for the last year or so, but thought nothing of it. Seems to be a bit more frequent now though, and the wipers have stopped parking where they should when you turn them off - they just stop wherever they are on the screen.

It'll be due for a service in a couple of months anyway, just going to wait till then (along with the paint thats peeling off the roof... again Rolling Eyes)... unless they throw a proper strop and give up altogether.

get that fixed quick- the next stage is complete wiper failure, which happened to me in the middle of Donegal, its not an easy fix as its a dash off job Sad Pimped black '07 Puma

My wipers used to do all the usual tricks;

- stopping anywhere
- not stopping at all !
- click/tap/ping/graunch when changing blade direction.

Since I took the whole system off the car, cleaned and lubricated the spindles/wheelboxes and rack (none of which appeared ever to have been lubricated), regreased the motor wheelbox, and fitted a new park switch they have been perfect (although I know it's tempting fate to say so). Before I did this using the wipers was a real adventure, you simply never knew quite what would happen when you turned them on!

Doing the whole of the above took about 1 hour and doesn't involve complete removal of the dash - see my posts on other threads for details.

Dealers won't do this properly since there's not really any incentive for them.
