Obvious problem symptoms to check for on TD5 engine?
A bit short notice, and not directly Defender related, but I'm off to look at a TD5 Disco Auto at 5pm to use as a dinghy tow vehicle at a sailing club.
I know where to look for chassis rot, etc as we've had Disco's before. It's had rear air suspension replaced with coils which is good news from our point of view as less to go wrong. Recent MOT so hopefully no serious chassis or suspension gremlins.

But what about the TD5 engine? It's had a hew fuel injector harness loom and a new MAF.

I've read about heads cracking around the fuel injectors and leaky fuel pressure regulators.
Are there any tell tale signs to easily spot if there is a problem with a cracked head?
Any other obvious tell tale signs that would suggest we walk away?

Thanks in advance.

Well no obvious symptoms of imminent terminal destruction, so despite the 209k Miles on the clock we bought it. No idea how much surgery it has had in the past but considering the mileage it drove really well. The TD5 sounded sweet as a nut and amazingly for an old JLR vehicle, everything appeared to work as it should. What could possibly go wrong Rolling with laughter
Need to do some research now into the Adventurer LE spec and see if we have found a rare beasty.

Begging to think I should be running one of these as my daily driver.
I bought a Jap import 300tdi Disco 1 auto for the sailing club 6 months ago for £1200 with 10 months MOT, and now this TD5 Disco 2 auto in Wimbledon Green for £1400 with 11 months MOT. Cheap as chips 👍
