24 hr challenge
I don't know if any of you follow this guy on YouTube. He does some great video's, the latest one's being a 24 hr endurance challenge along some of Australia's really technical tracks. Great viewing if you enjoy watching hardcore 4 wheel driving.

I tend to flick back and forth between Orkney and 4wd247. Which means I'm either depressed at the quality and variety of 4wd locations they have, or spending money I shouldn't be because "my 110 really should have the UK equivalent of a....... *Thing*" Rolling with laughter

Yeah Orkney 90 has great content. Plus that 90 is a beast and he's not afraid to use it.

The 24 hour looked like a fantastic event, great bunch of blokes. Wasn't sure if they were drinking canned coffee or 'tinnies' of beer!

And can't go without a mention of that little red Suzuki ute. Obviously the pilot can wheel, but it looked to have the least amount of lift, and sailed through all challenges.

I just noticed your location is Sydney Black puma. I've often wondered, are the tracks in Orkneys, LROR, etc videos public rights of way, or how does it work over there?

Hi Steve, I'm not 100% sure (maybe another Aussie can chime in here). But a mixture. There are many places with public access, public land. State forests, are accessible. As some you'll need a decent 4wd to access some camp sites. Which can include deep river crossings.

National parks have 4wd areas, like Watagans. Which are great. Also some land for logging companies have fantastic 4wd tracks that can be used.

I don't do proper off roading like Orkney 90, who is Victoria (down south). I prefer to enjoy him punishing his car from my couch. But there are great trails I have driven in NSW - Sydney. And basically most trips outside Sydney you can find yourself able to take a side track somewhere. Even just getting to some beaches will require a serious 4wd.

So inadvertently you can easily find yourself on fire trails made for emergency fire crews in forests, and even on a family weekend away there may be a fun trail right next to the accommodation. I have even had Google Maps lead us into virtually impassable bush trails a couple of times. One right next to our cousins property, and he says he often has to get the tractor to help people out who have been sent that way.
