Porting Pivi Pro eSIM in 2020 Defender
Con you confirm that the UK specification new defender contains two eSIMs - one located in/related to in the Vehicle Domain Controler (VCM), and the 2nd located in/related to the Pivi Pro unit.

I understand that the VCM unit eSIM is active as standard on all UK models and detailed as the "Online Pack with Data Plan".

I understand that the Pivi Pro unit eSIM is inactive as standard on all UK models and detailed as an option as "Wi-Fi Enabled with Data Plan".

Is it possible to obtain a Porting Authorisation Code (PAC) or the equivalent for the eSIM for the Pivi Pro to enable an owner to take out their own data service with a service provider of their choice?

Good morning Supacat,

Thank you for your post and your patience in waiting for a reply.

I can confirm that there are two embedded SIM Cards on the vehicle for the Defender. One of which is known as the VDC eSIM, and the other is the Pivi eSIM.

I hope this has answered your question.

Many Thanks,

Dan - Land Rover UK

Dan

Thank you for answering the first part of my query. Could I ask you to look at the latter part, regarding PAC, and let me know if this is possible?

Hi Supacat,

Thank you for your reply.

I can confirm that we are unable to provide the Porting Authorisation Code for the eSIM to any of our customers.

Should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thanks, Dan - Land Rover UK

Thanks Dan.

Is this because you can't because you are not the service provider?

Ofcom states: "We’ve made it quicker and easier to leave your current mobile provider. Ofcom rules mean you can switch mobile provider by sending a simple, free text message to your current provider."

"You can also request your PAC via your online account on your provider's website. When you do this, your provider must provide your PAC within one minute, just as they would if you requested it by text."

https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-telecoms-a...e-provider

Can you advise how this can be done?

Good afternoon Supacat,

To confirm, the data service is managed by JLR and is part of the PIVI Pro, Online Pack and WiFi Hotspot with Data Plan subscriptions. All of these subscriptions include data and therefore there is no reason for a customer to provide or manage their own data plan. Further to this, PIVI does not support voice calls via the eSIM and therefore there is no telephone number to port. So a port authorisation code is not required.

Many Thanks,

Dan - Land Rover UK

Hi Dan,

Can you let owners know what options we have when the Pivi Pro does not work in their jurisdiction when the supplied provider is not available.

In Jersey (and Guernsey) the Pivi Pro does not work as the carriers over here do not appear to have any agreements with the provider Land Rover use.

Good afternoon Julep,

Thank you for your post and your patience in waiting for a reply.

I can confirm that the current contract between the software developer and JLR does not cover the Channel Islands.

However, our engineering team has raised a change request to the software developer, and this is currently being reviewed – after which connectivity for Defender could potentially become available for our customers in the region.

Unfortunately. I do not have any further information at this time.

Thanks, Dan - Land Rover UK

Hi Dan,

FYI, And anyone else that may read this post. As of today, the Pivi Pro eSIM system started working in the Channel Islands!

Not sure if it is with just one provider or multiple, but, just connected to Sure at the moment and I have been busy setting up my InControl connected accounts.

one happy owner now. Very Happy 110 County Station Wagon V8

Esim in new Land Rovers in Russia
Good evening, everybody!

Does anybody know about Land Rover contracts with Russian cell mobile operators?

Will my mobile data plan in LR work in Russia?
