Glow plugs renewal advice
Hi all

My Puma has stated to be a bit on the lumpy side in the mornings with some white smoke,

So

I’ve decided to swap out the glow plugs (first set in 10 years) is this an easy DIY job for the driveway? 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8

It's a DIY job provided the glow plugs come out and are not seized and snap off on you

Remove inlet manifold (could possibly skip this step not sure but would make things difficult)
Remove the four nuts securing the wiring to the glow plugs
Remove glow plugs
Reassemble

Recommend getting some penetrating fluid on them every day for a week or more leading up to the job. Possibly some heat when you try to release them. > 110 XS Double Cab

If your doing it on the 2.4 puma (transit) engine the inlet manifold needs to be removed.

Spray some releasing fluid on them for about a week before you do them. Try and remove them when the engine is warm. Get inlet manifold gaskets while you're at it. Take your time taking them out and you should be fine Thumbs Up

I’ve found that lumpy running and white smoke on cold start is likely to be a leaky injector. The residual fuel rail pressure causes the injector to weep into the combustion chamber. This causes slow starting, uneven running and white smoke until the fuel is burnt off. Usually engine runs fine once fuel has been burnt off.

Maybe best to test glow plugs first. 2011 130 Utility Body

Is it not worth testing them first whilst they are still fitted?
