P300 VS. P400
I did a test ride yesterday in a 110 S P300. I didn’t have a chance to test the P400 but I was impressed with the P300

I can spec out a S P300 for $10k less than a similar speced SE P400

Not doing any big towing just getting her dirty in the sand out here in Cali when we surf

Will I be disappointed if I don’t get the v6 or will it harm resale value? $10k goes a long way for additional upgrades on the S trim.

Budget is not a factor but I am questioning the need for the P400.

Anyone in the same boat?

Went thru' exactly the same dance and the same reasoning -- except I didn't even think about resale. It's a depreciating asset and a 'luxury' SUV; my bet is resale is going to be absolutely bloody awful and make me cry on the 4 or the 6. Mind you, my Evoque is the first car I haven't driven into the ground (though they resurrected the Morris Marina despite the fact that it was almost as much rust as car!) so ...

I plonked down the deposit for a P300. It drove well enough, it's fast enough, and it's not like it'll ever be a sportscar. I'm just going to keep not knowing what I'm missing and be fine with it.

Thank you, exactly the info I am looking for from current owners. The dealer said depreciation will be way better than the Rovers because the 110 market isn't flooded with leases (YET)

Given you’re in the states where fuel is dirt cheap, why would you not go for the P400? The only downside is fuel economy.

Yes a lot cheaper than the EU but in Cali it's not cheap. The x factor is the gap in pricing for the P400 compared to the P300. It would be way easier if they offered the P3 in the SE.

Not an owner yet; I am trying to avoid the regret by not worrying Smile Deposit is in, car isn't here yet

Price! Smile

Actually, i think the P400 has better efficency on the highway than the 300, at least according to numbers from LR.

According to two influential YouTube channels P300’s seem to need a lot more garage time.......... Whistle Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Motortrend said the p300 got stuck in Africa but the p400 didn’t. I ordered a p300 fully loaded. It came to the dealer with not one Censored option I had ordered on it. They had a fully upgraded p400 HSE I paid 12k more than my order and it was worth it! 2022 Defender Trek Competition 110 collectors edition!

I went with the P300 for several reasons:
less electrically complicated - no MHEV system - figured long term ownership that would be a plus
18" wheels available
lower gearing in the front & rear differentials (better for off road but it does affect fuel mileage)
lower initial cost (about $8-9K) which allowed me to add a few options
like the full leather interior, towing pack, locking differentials. snorkel and roof rack

I'm very happy with the truck - it has plenty of power but I would have preferred a six cylinder diesel D300 which is not available in the USA
