Well that is great news to hear that it is now compatible at least. Shame about the sound quality, I wonder if it is something that they might improve with some future software update? I use mine mainly for reading back text messages so the sound quality won't affect me as much. MY21 110 D300SE DEFENDER

The 21MY Disco 5 has just received wireless CarPlay so I think the Defender may receive it in a future update.

That's interesting. Do you have a demo of it working in the Disco 5? Ray

Nothing yet that I’ve seen, the 21MY D5 info was just released yesterday.

I’d be curious for you to compare audio quality between the wireless AirPlay device and a hard wired connection. 2020 Defender 110 P400 HSE Santorini Black/Ebony

You’ll get losses with any wireless connection whatever type that is. Just how noticeable it is or if indeed you can tell the difference by the human ear is questionable though. Diesels Lives Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️

I have compared wired vs wireless and I have to say that my ears can't tell the difference. I will try to make a video to post soon but I'm almost sure you won't hear a difference in a video. Ray

The difference in gain alone is immediately apparent when comparing Spotify via Bluetooth vs. wired. 2020 Defender 110 P400 HSE Santorini Black/Ebony

Anyone heard any updates on wireless CarPlay for the defender?

Someone somewhere said that the Disco 5 has got it now but can’t verify that’s true or not... Cheers, David

More importantly what about Android Auto - wireless came to that a couple of years ago (ISTR) on my old Pioneer AVIC-F70DAB unit in my last vehicle, but always prefered plugging it in to keep charge up.

I've got the latest Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G so there shouldn't be any issue at that end for me Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Having never had a vehicle with CarPlay before, I was quite happy plugging it in, especially as I didn’t get wireless charging.

If it is just a software update then that’s great, but somehow I think LR might have to hold some developments back for 22 model year. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

I have been using wireless CarPlay on an Alpine unit for a few years now. I can't tell the difference between that and my wife's wired CarPlay. Also, I don't get any drops at all. I now hate using the wired because I end up leaving my phone in the car frequently. With the wireless, I usually never take the phone out of my pocket.

My new Defender has the wireless charging pad and the GoPlayAuto wireless CarPlay dongle has been great...
