Electrics in the back

Please could I ask for some advice on the best way to bring power into the back of my 130?

Looking to run a fused distribution block inside a waterproof box in the back to run a work light, fridge, usb power and a compressor for bike tyres.

Mine's a 110 but the principle is the same: take a cable large enough for all of your needs from the battery via a large fuse, along the chassis and up into the body at a convenient point. When I did mine, it was part of a split charge installation but the idea is the same from a single battery.

The cable on the left of this picture is 70amp (10 sq.mm from memory) and is protected by a 60amp fuse. It exits the battery box top left and then runs along the chassis in a protective flexible conduit and comes up near to the rear lights. Beware of getting too near to the exhaust and protect it against heat if necessary.

At the other end, it depends what you want to connect it to. If you're using an integrated fuse box such as a Blue Sea, you may be able to terminate the cable directly to it with an appropriately sized ring terminal. For my particular installation though, I terminated the cable on a bus bar that allowed me to take power in different directions from that point:

There's more detail about all of this in my build thread here: https://www.defender2.net/forum/post717755.html#717755

Hope that helps. Darren

Darren

Thank you, really does help, have not done any electrics on it before and was looking for some guidance, really appreciate your response. Need to get some bits ordered.

I was thinking of using this as the distribution point

That looks neat. I haven't seen that one before. Darren
