Key fob, immobiliser, problem ?
Had a small problem a few months ago where you would put the key in the ignition and turn but nothing would happen , had to pull key out and press unlock on the fob again and that would sort it , sometimes the horn would sound , and it seemed to disappear when I fitted a new battery and starter motor a couple months ago, but it’s started doing the same again over the last couple of days ? Could this be fob or immobiliser ? Or something else, and help would be great Thumbs Up

If the horn sounds that could mean it is one of the door or bonnet switches showing as open?

Maybe just the fob's battery?

I have the same/similar problem.
I have two fobs:
Fob 1. Works as it should.
Fob 2. Works in the way described in the original post. I have tried and tried, but found no way of getting it to work as it should.

I have just lived with it, but it is annoying. It started with a kiss, never thought it would come to this.

The most annoying thing is the horn going off twice every now and then and people think your trying to get there attention Laughing
The immobiliser lights flash different when it’s not going to start Neutral

I had a similiar issue over Christmas, after returning from a Vic High Country trip. Car Battery is only 7 Months old and I replaced the fob battery when I serviced the Defender in November.
So I went to start the vehicle, dash lights came on, horn sounded once, but no start....nothing, not even an attempt to crank. Central locking was also not working, but would lock with the key.

Put jump pack on battery, still no attempt to crank. Checked battery voltage, it showed perfectly healthy battery. Checked relays, and earth points, all good. Checked starter motor, when my mother tried to crank, there was no signal to the starter. It was then that I though Censored its the immobiliser or ignition barrel. However I always carry spare fob batteries, so I replaced the battery and hey presto up she fired. Hopefully your problem is as simple as changing the fob battery. I just figured that I must've had a dud fob battery since its was only replaced a couple of months prior.

I always replace both fob batteries once a year when I service the Defender.

The Indy who service my 110 always asks for both fobs and changes the batteries annually. Last year I got the phone call to collet the vehicle , on arrival he said sorry it isn't ready I can't get the fobs to work and the vehicle won't start I have gone through twenty batteries and nothing changes and I don't know now which were the batteries that came out of the fobs. The batteries he had ben trying all came in a Land Rover blister pack. with a good expiry date. I sent SHMBO to a DIY store and told her to get some Duracell batteries, on her return he popped them in the fobs and just like magic they worked. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.
