Help Needed Wiring work light
Hi all,

I am attempting to wire in a lazer utility 45 light as a work light. I am trying to replace the switch provided in the harness with the landrover front fog switch. I understand that it is negative switching however currently apprehensive. I am working off these two diagrams but need some advice before I start hacking into the existing loom to make sure I'm doing it right.

I got one of these from Amazon , might need to extend it a little but it’s all there and that makes it easy for me Thumbs Up

Do you already have that fog light switch? You're question is how to wire that into the loom?

That amazon loom probably won't help, as it's likely switching the positive wire.

I guess these are positive-switching, too?

I already have the loom in the diagram above and I also have the switch, I have extra cable etc for wiring the switch and all the right connectors it’s just a case of how to adapt the wiring of the loom to suit the switch.

So you'd have to wire it as shown in this complete diagram:

This may help understanding the circuit:

So basically the black wire from the relay's coil (85) goes to pin #1 of the fog light switch.
It will now provide ground to the relay by switch pin #4. You can remove the red wire from (30) to the switch from the loom. Now the other end of the coil (86) needs permanent +12V, same as (30) (or ignition switched or depending on main light switch as (not really) shown in the diagram, depending on your needs).
When the relay is triggered, +12V from (30) is routed to (87). You can leave that as it is, but the ground wire returning from the lamps must not be connected to (86) anymore, but just to ground. Lights are on now Smile
For the amber switch LED to work with the lights, (87) needs to be connected to pin #5 as well.
And then #2 for switch illumination. Done.

Please double check before cutting anything, as I need my beauty sleep now ... Embarassed
