How do you connect an ipod to the head unit? there seems to be a removable panel? Help

the removable cover is on the head unit that is fitted to the lower spec vehicals, and it dosn't have a socket behind it, typical land rover, just use the same face for the head unit and cover up the hole!!!!!!!
there are extra connections on the back, but i don't know what they are there for? could be for the back speakers as i've only got the front speakers in my double cab. |

Why not use something like this and charge the iPod whilst using it. Also no wires to radio.

Thanks, I will stop trying to pry the cover off now with a screwdriver whilst sat on traffic lights, I will change the head unit and fit a Ipod dock or similar, thanks
