Trimming needed for 33s?
Interested in doing 33s on my P400 defender. Does anyone know whether trimming is needed after a lift from either Johnson Rods or Lucky 8?

Thanks in advance.

I have seen 33" fitted without trimming with 2" rods.

You can fit 32.6" tires without trimming or rods.

Yes I’m thinking of putting BFGoodrich KO2’s in size 265/60/R20 on my defender when it arrives the diameter is 32.5”. But I see on the LR fb group most people are fitting size 275/55/R20 I’m not sure if that is for aesthetic reason or that the 60 sidewall is to big and rubs? I would much rather keep the bigger sidewall and keep the size as close to stock as possible which is 255/60/R20

Standard - 255/60 - has a side wall of 153mm

265/60 - has a standard sidewall of 159mm - 6mm bigger per side - so wheel grow 12mm in diameter

275/55 - has a standard sidewall of 151.2mm - so wheel drops 3.5mm diameter compared to stock... so side on looks almost identical clearance wise to stock.

BUT - not sure if the 275 width may cause rubbing to suspension or wheel arch liner - Probably not...

As the 22" wheels are also 275mm... but can not guarantee that it wont rub.

There is also more choice in the 275 / 55 / 20 and lower price than the 265/60/20 for K02 as an example

Cheers Simon that explains the reason then. The people I have seen fit the 275 have said little to no rubbing where there is tiny bit rub but only on one side wheel lock (strange) but not to consider it noticeable or to need any modifications.

Clocked that you might be one and the same when I was perusing your list of Kodiaq parts for sale in the Classified section. Lightbulb moment. Thumbs Up

Unfortunately no good for me as I’ve got a Karoq rather than a Kodiaq, plus I’m 550 miles away. Oh and banned from leaving Highlands, never mind Scotland, and deffo banned from entering Wales. Apart from that. Whistle

I still have the Karoq - wife uses it for work and its the weekend car for shopping (only thing possible in lockdown)

I work abroad - but since the virus last February - did 1 3 week USA trip - 6 weeks in Mexico and 4 weeks in Europe... so my car was not getting used..

So took the opportunity to sell Kodiaq and order the D300 110 HSE....

With continuing lock down - no issue if it takes a few more months to arrive..

We, SWMBO & me, we’re lucky, lockdown happened at the end of our 2nd 6 month travelling jolly. Train and bus all the way from our local station to Singapore, bar one local flight from KL to Singapore. Then 3 months in Aus, just managed to get back as Aus shut down, well for travellers anyway. We should be on our 3rd trip but for COVID and an illness SWMBO’s managed to develop. Sad

I fit a set of GY MT/R 275/70R18 with Lucky8 1" lift rods. Speed bumps are not felt anymore

I am running 1.5" rod lift with 295/55R20 Toyo Open Country MT mud terrains (33 x 12.2)
NO rubbing in access height on flat surface, multiple lock to lock trials

hope this helps

Just put on some 265/70R18 BFG AT KO2's today to replace the Goodyear Wranglers that came on the 110.
They fill up the wheel wells nicely with no rubbing that I can tell and the sidewalls are much tougher than the Goodyears.

I run BFG Mud Terrains on my old D-90 but the All Terrains are a better choice for what I will use the 110 for.
