Led work light
Hi,would like to utilise the heated rear window switch/ wiring to power a Denali d4 led lamp (3.3 amp draw) can I swap the relay to a non vss relay ie black not yellow and run worklight without issue,it’s a 2014 90 Xs. I can then swap the switch front to a bearmach work lamp front. The live for the hrw can go to the light and then earth to chassis.am I ok to do this as I never use the window heater and the wiring is in place already

Why would you want to lose the heated rear window? Just to save running a cable in? Imagine the conversation with a buyer if you ever come to sell it. There is 12v already in the back behind the driver side speaker panel, so you’ve already got the power there. I’m not sure but it wouldn’t surprise me if there is wiring for a lamp there as well as it was a factory option. If not, all you need to do is run 2 cores from a switch to the back of the car. This job doesn’t come any easier than on a defender. If a jobs worth doing, it’s worth doing right.

Unfortunately, the 12v supply behind the speaker panel - the infamous purple wire - was discontinued from 2013. Darren

No spare power at rear of mine,2014 but have located a bearmach switch to go in blank on dashboard so gonna go that route and wire it in via a relay etc. Still won’t use the hrw as it’s dark tinted so can’t see through it anyway just thought it would be easier to use that switch but by the time i fart about altering everything I may as well put another new one in and do right.im gonna add a relay so I can add lights if I need to in future with out issues. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
