Rear shock Cup mounts o 08 110
Got terrafirma tf117 shocks for rear of my 110 do I need to remove cup mounts info say may be necessary some info says yes some no
Also shocks came with just two lower washers is that right not sure how to proceed any help appreciated iain Endeavour To Persevere

I'm not so familiar with the more recent axles, but I doubt they've changed much.

Do you mean two lower washers per shock, or one each? If it's one each, you haven't enough and will need to get two more, or use the better of the old ones.

Washers go concave side towards the axle upper and lower - so that the 'cup' of the washers doesn't clash with the cups on the axle. One of these things that's harder to describe than it is to do. The two cups shouldn't face each other might be another way of putting it.

On defenders I'd fit lower shock bushes on an 'egg timer' configuration- with the narrower part of each bush towards the axle. But I was recently surprised in an older RR manual to see them stress fitting as an 'egg' shape - with the points of the bushes facing to the top and bottom.

Main thing is, I didn't think you'd need to remove the axle cups. Donald
