..1L of petrol per full tank of diesel..
..hi guys..this morning i went to refuel my trucks, and while doing so, i was greeted by another defender owner so we have had short talk..however, what is special about this is, after he finished fueling his puma(2.2), he added 1 L of petrol in to tank...i was surprised and asked why did he do it..and he said its for 'cleaning' fuel lines and its good for car from time to time...is this voodoo real??

Sounds disasterous to me. How do fuel lines get 'dirty' inside anyhow?

It's a bad idea in modern diesels with high pressure fuel systems. Petrol lacks the lubricating properties of diesel and will lead to wear in the fuel pump.

I vaguely remember this being a thing 'in the old days' to stop diesel waxing in cold weather. Really not necessary anymore though. Darren

not a good idea need to be adding lubricity not removing it, petrol also has a lower energy value than diesel so in theory will reduce power DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

I used to do it when I was running veg oil in the 200tdi & 19j

No idea if it made a difference Laughing

Those were the days! I ran a mk1 Navara on veg oil until it broke down right outside a main dealer. Had to push it in there and when they inspected it they told me it had had a massive heart attack! All the fuel lines were clogged with fat!! I wouldn’t mind but I was using reasonable quality sunflower oil, not the Tesco value stuff!!

I went to Morocco and back last year with my friend running his TDI 110 hard top on veg oil. Half of his load was veg oil when we crossed into Morocco, and customs never bothered. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
