The Hummer EV will arrive under the GMC brand with 1000bhp and 11,500lb ft of torque and be capable of 0-60mph in 3sec. Few other details are known about the new model but it is promised to deliver "incredible on- and off-road capability".

It won’t matter what it had under the Hood or Bonnet or wherever the power train is located. The tiny box brigade will still hate upon it. Emissions is just an excuse to attack other members of society wherever that maybe in society or the world.

Interesting article not just about the EV Hummer but SUVs in general:

"Electric or Not, Big SUVs Are Inherently Selfish
A battery-powered Hummer may be better for the environment, but it reinforces the culture of waste and excess that got us into this environmental mess in the first place."

I don’t tend to note much mention of the millions of European aircraft flights ever though do you that’s the thing.
(I mean the press not anyone on here in particular.)
Like Thunberg did, Prince Charles did the same political hypocrisy of telling people about air travel yet flew by air themselves to do so.
And again Megan Markle, much the same flying across from Canada every whips while.

I can’t see any change myself, minor yes, significant no.
As with most things, if the public freedom starts to become encapsulated and stifled nearly always that hits resistance.

The root of all of this is international politics.
I know who I would prefer on my side if it all kicked off.

Also, it is often underestimated the power of financial choice.
When funds are removed from those seeking to damage others quality of life they soon feel the pinch.

As with these proposed LEZ things, I’d be curious to know how many people say on here now avoid the city anyway by choice and of course take their money with them too.

There has also been zero thought at all to those who live in rural areas, or care I would say too.

Personally I’m not worried about these issues at all, as I know the impact will be implosion on those who try to make such ideas.

We all will now enjoy more freedom, just how it should be. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

After watching that video, all I can say is wow on the technical detail and specification. Shame on the price though, at least initially, with cheaper models to follow in the following years.

Everything in the US is so frigging big. Shocked

As for the discussion on flights, what irritates me is that the green lobby constantly use them as a target because of the CO2/head/mile argument, yet conveniently ignore that flights only account for 1.4% of the worlds ENTIRE pollution output, yet flights have enabled the modern world we enjoy today to exist. International trade, movement of people, enjoying other cultures, even mental well-being by taking a holiday. They’re not a bad thing per se. Yes they pollute, yes they make noise (and I know as I lived under Heathrow’s flight path for 30+ years) but overall they’ve massively changed the world for the better.

If the green lobby want change, target China, India and the USA who produce 75% of the world’s pollution, mainly through ‘production’ of stuff. And if some moaning Greeny (with a Y not n I, Thumbs Up ) wants to make an effort, stop buying anything that is made in those countries, such as lap tops, phones, clothes etc. Can’t have your cake an eat it. But, lastly, who are we (Westerners living in comfortable democracies) to deny 3/4 of the world's population the right to drag themselves out of poverty and misery by stopping them having their industrial revolutions. We’ve had ours, but we’re going to tell you you can’t have yours? Hypocrisy if ever I heard it.... Whistle Monsieur Le Grenadier

Interersting that 4 wheel steering is making a comeback. GM tried it on pick-ups in the 90s (Quadrasteer) and it didn't catch on. Is it more than just a gimmick this time? 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Thanks for the heads up on Quadrasteer, looked that up and it was interesting; but it led me to this, which I think will really answer your question as to whether it is just a gimmick:

Very impressive with the trailer both at road speed and also low speed manoeuvring.

If I heard right then ZF have sold 500,000 rear steer systems since 2013.

Saw that earlier, 4 wheel steering looks interesting.
Guarantee the EU would say that’s illegal there, based on “safety grounds”.
Whether such a thing exists I don’t know, but you can bet it’d soon be implemented if not already.

Wonder why..

At around $110,000 I think around that figure if you factor in taxes etc it would make it what some £100,000 - £120,000.

Iconic vehicle, lost its roots again just like JLR.
You’d see these on and around the LA strip, all for the image.
Hell, Megan Markle probably would..

Such vehicles always were significantly expensive, but now it has just got astronomical.

Each to their own though, I do like the design somewhat but I think like the new Pretender it’s to futuristic.
The current designs were popular and some of the so called improvement do exactly the opposite and put people off.

I’ve always liked the Dodge Ram’s, F250’s and GMC’s.
Some Police forces have put in orders for some Ford F450 armoured vehicles I believe which must be huge. I think it was Essex and Suffolk or Norfolk police I think.

I have a feeling they were armoured for armed response or similar uses. Very similar to the armoured Defenders that were seen in Ireland in times of trouble.

Pretty pointless for lanes though, wouldn’t fit except Salisbury plain.
Then again most lanes have been killed off that used to be good after NERC, or full of waste junk. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Well according to GMC they sold out the entire allocation within an hour of it going live.

There is now apparently a waiting list.

The new FFRR will have rear wheel steering.

Performance figures for the Hummer are insane considering how much it must weigh. It's absolutely ridiculous but I'm glad they are making it. WARNING.

Yeah I saw that. Only thing is does it stop so well. Must weigh a shed load I would have thought. I imagine it would have very large brakes though built in and has been thought about.

I like the boxy design.
The polar opposite what I don’t like about the new Defender.
Too rounded and FL like.
The D5 has gone the same way, liked the D3, the D4 was even nicer.
I don’t like the D5 at all.

LR need to stop obsessing about only about “capabilities” and consider what it looks like.
It’s production, and it’s heritage and intertwined design.

You can only but take that LR like the Heritage from a financial view. But as a brand image the Defender an embarrassment to its business model being associated with Agriculture etc.

I can’t see much change though, unless ownership changes over. That could be a positive or negative depending who to.

Time will tell. Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧
