We are running an off roading this coming Saturday. Day starts with pub meet at 0900 followed by safety briefing at 0930, then head in convoy onto and around the course until approx 1230hrs. Its a compact training site with plenty for everyone. David Bowyer, the goodwinch creator will be leading the route in his rebuilt 300tdi. Plenty of pumas and td5s out on our last trip so show these tdisbwhat its all about. If your I interested its prebooked only and we limit convoy size to keep everything moving. Cheers

We had a really good morning Saturday on course. Rogers lovely rebuilt 90 on a galvanised chassis and Oliver in a 64 Plate USE were the only defender present. The Discoverys made up another half of the vehicles, D2, D3 and D4 with my 130 and Davids 300tdi leading/tail end Charlie.

So generally going around the course, which vehicle do we think performed the best.... Cheers

I'd hazard a guess at either the D3 or D4. Darren

D4 coped on all terrains coped with the minimum of driver input making it look easy compared to Defenders on same sections without the electronic aids to help them through.

D4 weight didnt help though on other times. (it was well loaded)

D3 on Mud Terrains walked all over the rest of the field in the case of making an obstacle look easy! Cheers

It's hard to argue with what a good all round package they are. Darren

they are incredibly good and for me as a 2+2 family would be the ideal load lugger, motorway mile eater, 3.5t towing machine. but i dont like them so have a Defender! Cheers

This is basically why we have one of each. Every so often, my wife talks about getting an electric car. If she ever takes the plunge, I'm likely to keep her Discovery and sell the 110 as it's just so good. Darren

Good they may be, dynamically, but the horror stories of various modes of expensive failure kept me away.

Mind you, it's not as if my Defender is good example of economy motoring Rolling with laughter
