Looks like the CEO, Dirk Heilmann, has started posting updates on IG. Maybe worth a following you are on there. Some nice pics of a bare shell.

I’m holding off on ordering a Defender until I see and drive a Grenadier. It’s just a shame that it looks as if it will only be available with a manual gearbox.

Hi Jim, I thought they were going to be available only with a ZF Auto?

Ohhhhh..... I signed up for their updates a fair few months ago and I thought that they were only going to be available as manuals?

Well if there is definitely an auto box mated to a 3.0L diesel then I’m quite happy to carry on plodding around in my old L322 until I get to see and drive a Grenadier.

Same here. I won’t go for a Defender until I can compare these two. Others have answered the transmission thing (I’d actually prefer a manual but autos are very reliable these days). The deciding factor for me will be the interior. The Defender interior is very good for touring and is very intelligently designed in my opinion — having front AND rear climate control, ample places to put things up front, a jump seat up front, and a ton of USB power points make it really good for families or groups doing longer tours. If Ineos comes out with something with similarly good layout, I’ll be leaning more towards the Grenadier. Bonus points if I can get the diesel in North America, which doesn’t appear to be in the cards for JLR’s product.

👍

Not sure I really noticed before but those closeups of the bare windscreen and prototype show it to have a bonded screen.

I hope the production model comes with two windshield wipers. Maybe that's an upcharge in an accessory pack? Wink

That is the upgraded sports wiper pack, reduces drag 0.0001%, inspired by a 90s BTCC car. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

The wing at the front already has a dent in it! Laughing

Maybe I missed it, but how much of it is steel vs. aluminium? I guess the body is steel because of the spot welds, rather than bonded/riveted?

In this picture it appears to have the mounting points for a Snorkel pre-fitted on the A-pillar. Which is nice. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Lots of mounting points all over. Handy if you are going to use them but looks a but rubbish if you don't. A bit like those cheap hire cars with no options and blank switches all over the dash. WARNING.
