£300-400 to upgrade stereo?
I’ve got the alpine BT head unit and standard speakers with no amp/sub. I’ve got Censored all low end, just the normal tinny defender sound. Where would you put your money to generally improve sound? I’m fully soundproofed and insulated already.

Lucari do a hertz kit for a bit more than my budget, does it look good value? https://www.lucari-solutions.co.uk/stage-o...-6625.html

Cheers

That’s not going to give you anymore low end unfortunately. I’d start by getting an active sub, something like a focal bus 2.1 or the standard version of the alpine one that Landrover use. This will make a much nicer more rounded sound for about half your budget, then see if you feel you need to add more after that’s fitted. Thumbs Up Ray

Seconded. I have the Focal and it’s perfect for the Defender’s needs. And slipped under the middle row seats, invisible. No risk of being kicked or reduced middle seat legroom, like subs attached to the back of the cubby box. Although being on the floor pan, if you have a bass-heavy tune on the go, you will wonder constantly if there is something wrong with the drive train. Hello

If you want to keep you standard head unit

Focal K100 10cm in the front are very good.

https://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/focal-es-1...s-kit.html

If you want to do some wiring then add an Amp, I had an old Rockford fosgate Amp for years ago but ended up buying another as well off e-bay for around £40 (not used it yes as was going to use this just for the sub), you then need a wiring amp kit around £20 and new speaker wire around the same. My 1 amp is powering 4 midrange, 4 tweeters and a sub.

Then you could at add a sub box for some bass... mine was less than £100

For £400 you could do the Focal front's £200, add a second hand amp and wiring £100, then a Sub box for £100

It makes a Massive difference. My head unit claims to be 4 x 40w or what ever, the Amp is 4 x 25w and blows the old system away., It is a bit of a job wiring everything in, I did mine over lock down Smile wire everywhere....

I did the back's also and added 5 1/4 with separate crossovers and tweeters, compared to what you have you will be impressed. Mines all sound proofed also which does help.
