[For Sale] Warn XD9000i winch
After having a long and hard think about it, I’ve decided to advertise my freshly rebuilt XD9000i winch, complete woth synthetic rope and fair lead.

I completely stripped and inspected the winch over lockdown, after it had been sat in my garage for the last 3 years. There was some aluminium corrosion on the housings, the gearbox was greased but showed signs of water ingress from wading (No damage to the planetary or sun gears), and the brake was seized inside the drum. That said, the motor was sound and everything else was in good order.

I got my wallet out and ordered a load of genuine Warn parts from Montana Jacks Outpost in the US, including a new brake assembly, new bearings, new gaskets, new stainless bolts, and new decals. I also ordered some Castrol spheerol EPL0 semi fluid grease (recommended for these winches) and set about with the rebuild.

All the castings were cleaned up, degreased, etch primed, primed, and painted with VHT engine enamel to cope with the higher temps of the motor.

The drum and fair lead were cleaned up, degreased and given a coat of Dinitrol RC800 rust converter, Finished with Dinitrol 4941.

The winch came together really well, looks mint and will work as intended now with new bearings and brake Assy, I was going to save this for my own defender but I’ve just bought a motorbike to rebuild so will use the money from this to fund it.

I’d like £1100 for the full setup, collection from South Lakes as it’s quite heavy.

I have to say that you've done a fantastic job on the refurb, that looks absolutely mint. I wish the one on my Disco2 looked that good!

GLWTS.

Thanks mate, it kept me sane during lockdown! I would like to keep it but in reality it’s going to end up sitting in the garage for another few years if I do..

What colour paint did you use? I need to tidy up my 8274 but can't seem to find out what colour it's meant to be!

Hi Richard,

I got the paint from Frost, I’m pretty sure it was this stuff;

Thanks
