I had the same thing with no trailer attached. The software update cured it.
Just unplug your trailer electrics and you will see its the same. Pom |

LR assistance put a new socket on for us and this seems to have cured it. Apparantly if any part of the electrical system develops a short this can often affect engine performance

It has to do with the CANBUS system fitted on the PUMA. That's why the trailer 12n socket is plugged in to the vehicle loom and not spliced in.

![]() CANBUS is only used to connect the ECU to the instrument pack on the Puma - doesn't get anywhere near the lighting circuits (which are the only connections in the 12N socket). |

So how does the ABS and 10AS communicate with the EMS and vice versa? How does the IC know what light circuits are active and how does the trailer icon know when to light up on the ic when using indicators? Just curious.

Just checked the Puma electrical manual. The CANBUS is only used to connect the ECM (D131 connector C0872) to the instrument cluster (J100 connector C1040) and diagnostic socket (V100 connector C0040).
All other systems including alarm and ABS/TC interconnect using traditional non-multiplexed signals (and I would have thought that the 10AS alarm was designed before CANBUS had been thought of). Trailer indicator warning light is usually activated by detecting the additional load of the additional bulbs on the indicator circuit. |
