I'd go with the blue that matches the tailgate. You can't beat a blue Land Rover on white Wolf wheels, IMHO of course Laughing Darren

I do love the blue and, SWMBO would like a limestone/white roof and wheels which would fit nicely. However, I'm conscious that a colour combo which works well on a 90/110 might look a bit out of place on a 130 given the size!

I'd also like to go for something a bit different, I considered Phoenix orange as a slightly more sophisticated colour than my old 110 but I think it will be a little too much on a 130. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread

Lots of progress made just, not much to show for it...

I have a pile of parts mainly, suspension components and chassis brackets ready for blasting and galvanising. But, whilst I wait for a good period of weather I've been progressing with the strip down;

The bulkhead and chassis are in remarkably good condition and, the bulkhead has a few notable differences to those of the later tdi's. With this in mind I'll likely repair it and send for galvanising instead of using the 300tdi bulkhead I picked up.

Also, treated it to some new (to me) Blindos Cool

Ever get the feeling that no matter how hard you work there's not much to show for it? That's been me for the last few weeks...
I've been focusing on getting the vehicle stripped and, any surplus parts sold to free up space in the grain shed, the engine and boxes which, weren't original went to the Netherlands on Monday!

However, last night my godfather and I set about blasting the radius arms, A-frame etc. ready for galvanising.

I've got an ever increasing pile of other bits that also need blasting but, we couldn't get the feed right from the hopper and, I was already well late for dinner... Embarassed

These bits will have to wait until the end of August I suspect as my godfather is busy with other things;

Unless, anyone knows of a good blasting outfit in Shropshire? 1985 127 V8 Build Thread

Thanks John!

They (bad obsession motorsport) are actually only a few miles from my work but, I hadn't seen they're stuff before, very impressive.

I think aqua blasting is the way I'll go for the transfer and gearbox ally casings. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread

Not sure where abouts you are in Shropshire, but I’ve used Mid Wales Vapour Blasting for blasting casings etc. Photos are on his Facebook page of some Land Rover bits he’s done for me. The casings come back looking like new if not better.

Thanks for the suggestions regarding blasting, I'll get in touch with the firms ahead of stripping the gearbox and transfer box.

Yesterday I dropped a few bits off for galvanising;

Seemed such a shame to leave the freshly blasted parts in the rain but, I know the cleaning stages of the galvanising process will soon sort any rust.

Nearly got the front axle casing in primer this weekend but, rain showers ensued. Thankfully, I hadn't mixed the paint. I'll probably fetch the rear axle casing out of storage and prep that so I can spray both at the same time later this week.

Well it seems that life has a habit of getting in the way...
I've been spending time riding bikes and arsing about with hydraulic presses instead of making progress Rolling with laughter

A new to me Puma rear axle was delivered and quickly stripped and capped ready for blasting, only to sit in the workshop for the past 2 weeks!!

I've removed the bush cups which seems to be a popular mod, also noticed some 'slop' in the trailing arm bracket, I've a trick up my sleeve to solve this as soon as some copper arrives.

Nige of Xcess4x4 has delivered some beautiful CNC bits, I'll be doing a write up on the fitting process in the modifications section of the forum soon.

With a bit of luck my first load of galvanising will be ready to collect soon, apparently the plant has been having issues with the tank. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread
