It isn't just you, it does look hideous. Assuming of course that the artist's impression above is a realistic likeness.

Yes, that does nothing to the looks.
Don't know where Toyota have gone with the Hilux. I thought it was the go to pickup of choice, but many on here have said how poor they have become in the last few years? Never driven one so I can't comment, but if I was looking for a Pickup, the Hilux would have been on my list, but not with the fish mouth like that |

Perhaps they're chasing the Dodge Ram market?

I thought the front of a Dodge Ram and others of that ilk looked ugly but Toyota have taken it to a new level, obviously thinking its what the Americans want.

It’s nearly as ugly as the new BMW and Audi grilles Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

There does seem to be a trend amongst car makers at the moment to give all models an ugly pouting look, and we certainly seem to be in a period when there are absolutely no good looking normal cars being made.

Just been filming the new one this week for the launch event and it doesn’t look like the chrome wide mouthed frog picture above. JB

It looks like a Donald Trump sneer.
Maybe that's why a particular part of the US market likes it. |

I had a Hilux on hire a couple of years ago, 18 plate IIRC. The windscreen wipers fell apart at 800 miles, and it would get jammed in 4x4/low box. Comfy to drive but not very impressive due to reliability really. 2011 110 USW

I read somewhere recently that the huge oversized grille trend was to cater for the Chinese market. Don't know if that's regarding taste, or just to differentiate from other marques. |
