Planning to Convert the puma 2.4
Guys
I have 2010 Defender130 with puma2.4 engine and 6 gears gearbox
Unfortunately few days back the engine is done after 153K KM of off roading ,
Please need your advices and suggestions if you have any idea Which petrol engine (V8 or V6 ) can fit on my defender with the same gearbox

Regards

Misrata libya?

You might have a hard time getting hold of the same engines we have available here.

Isuzu conversions seem pretty popular in asia and middle east, and for the most part are more affordable than most of what you could find here. but they're mostly Inline engines as opposed to V layouds

Definitely better for parts in your end of the world.

mercedes om606 are doable and have 6 (inline) cylinders not so sure about parts though

Funnily enough the ukrainian national guard has procures some ex MOD and ex UN LRs and was looking for complete refurbish including engines... I'm on IG: https://www.instagram.com/osloblue42/

Thank you for your reply
5.0 V8 I am thinking about this option . And it’s easy to find it here , but I am just worried if the 6speed gearbox can handle it ,

Brother it’s small world and it’s become easy to get any part from anywhere,
I am thinking about 3.9 engine from Land Rover but I am not sure if it will fit 6 speed gearbox or if there is any convention kits for that

I wouldn't risk a Land Rover 3.9 V8 in your country - they overheat & do head gaskets in the UK & temperatures here are noting like you get!

I disagree, I have taken a V8 to the Sahara on a couple of occasions and I am currently swanning around in central France, where the temperature is 43 Deg C. No head gasket or overheating problems whatsoever It is not a Defender, it is a One_Ten

Hi, my business manufactures and supplies the controllers to do engine conversions into Pumas Smile

The new "system controller" gives factory air con control, and the option of maintaining the ABS and traction control systems.

The "gauges controller" sits behind the instrument pack and converts signals from the engine/ECU into those needed for the Puma Smile

I drove an 07 90 yesterday with a L83, 5.3 V8 fitted by Nene overland to the stock MT82,

it was a very neat installation, mounts, exhaust, rad etc all very professional and drove super smooth and quiet like a factory car,

Very quick, the 5.3 is plenty of power,

may be worth looking at, I understand they are also doing DIY kits, Dave
