Could this be related to clunking Pumas?

Ford silent on broken Mustang transmissions
Two weeks ago, we wrote about hundreds of 2011 Ford Mustang owners reporting problems with the six-speed manual transmissions in their vehicles. We're now hearing more complaints — almost daily — but we have yet to hear from Ford. Color us puzzled.

Scores of owners say they have problems ranging from hard shifts to outright failures in the MT82 transmissions built in China by a Ford-Getrag joint venture. Ford has issued one technical service bulletin to dealers telling them to swap transmission fluid, and suggested a problem with bolts in the clutch plate as another possible solution. Yet the complaints keep coming, and whatever it's told dealers, Ford has said nothing to customers or to Jalopnik. Here's our best guesses as to why:

I read a few weeks back that Ford had a "fix" for this... Apparantly some super duper Ford racing team anti friction additive is added to the gearbox oil, and woopeedoo it's all sorted... Rolling with laughter

Personally I think it's bullsh*t, and just down to bad manufacturing and the cheapest tender gets the job.. My Puma 'box has been checked 3 times now, and each time the dealer says it's fine.. So now, I am playing the waiting game.. ... ,-------,

with LR tolerances you can not feel such thing. Does not really matter IMHO. Even more I think the MT82 is too fine for the Defender....... Puma 110" SW

It is interesting that the Mustang MT82 boxes all come from China. Am I right in thinking that the Landrover boxes are made (or at least assembled) in Halewood?

I wonder how Halewood build quality compares with Chinese build quality.

That would be news, I thought the Defender boxes are also China stuff. Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.
