Coolant change - 2.2 Defender (2014) without fuel cooler
Hi Guys,
Looking for help - I have embarked on a coolant change using both Haynes manual and my (2012) workshop manual. Both say to remove the coolant hoses from the fuel cooler. Problem is that since 2014 there is no fuel cooler..!
Is it best to unclip the lowest hose to the rad in order to drain coolant..?

If it’s anything like the 2.4 like mine I used the thermostat hose. I don’t know hardly anything about the2.2 but this is what I did with mine. Diesels Lives Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️

Thanks Steve - thermostat looks to be quite high up on my engine. Pity they didn't fit a rad drain tap...

OK, got it sorted. The sump/steering guard had to come off then you can access the bottom hose coming out of the radiator. Squeeze clips are awful, replaced with proper Jubilee clips to make it easier next time...!

Is it possible to vacuum out the old coolant out of the bleed port?

I can’t see the radiator bottom hose clips without removing the radiator lower shroud.
