So what is the recommended procedure for disconnecting the battery?
Surely anyone who has a battery switch is disconnecting the battery every time they turn the switch off........... AND if you don’t follow the recommend procedure what should you do when reconnecting the battery ? Guy / May your life be like toilet paper ; long & useful. |

The only recommended procedure is to disconnect it within 30 seconds of turning the ignition off (easy if you loosen the earth connection first). This prevents the BBUS alarm activating. Darren

Apart from setting off the BBUS if one is fitted, disconnecting the battery spontaneously should not cause any problems. If it did, any time the battery went flat would mess up the immobiliser.
Clearly in some cases it has caused problems, but this may be due to other underlying faults. Whilst there are obvious attractions to having a battery isolation switch, for example being able to disconnect the battery instantly after an accident to reduce the fire risk, on any modern vehicle the routine use of such a switch is likely to be problematic since it will inevitably disable the alarm, cause radio (and potentially other system) settings to be lost, inhibit wireless software updates, and so on. |

I believe that all Puma models have them but the easiest way is to disconnect the battery without following the procedure above and listen for it. It's unmistakable. Darren
