2004 110 TD5 fuel tank vent

my 04 is leaking where the smaller tube attaches to the filler neck. trying to find out if there is a second tank breather i need to check or if there is just this one piece of solid tubing that i need to replace? i don't see anything Teed into the tube when i look. i read there is supposed to be a separate vent but getting conflicting info. the tuve im talking about seems like 3/4" ID tubing.

There is no extra vent “T’d” into it on a Td5. It is just a length of pipe.

I replaced mine about two months ago. Easy job in theory, but a pain as I’ve got massive hands and access is tight if trying to do job without dropping the tank. The two worse parts are trying to remove the clip around the pipe on the tank end before removing and getting the new hose onto the tank spigot. It’s one of those jobs where you choose if you want to see it, or if you want to touch it, you can’t do both

I got 1 meter of good quality fuel hose, and two stainless steel hose clips from EBay

The T’d in breather is a Tdci thing, not a Td5

Thanks for the info. I found a schematic that shows a different breater on the opposite side of tank. Is that present on td5?

Did you do yours without dropping the tank? I can see the clamp on the tank end. Was wondering if I could lower it perhaps an inch or two without disconnecting the sender lines and maybe reach it that way without having to pull the whole tank.

Yep. Breather is on other side on Td5.

I did mine without dropping the tank at all, and really struggled with it to be honest, but did manage it. I would recommend dropping it, enough to get access but not so much that you need to disconnect fuel pump and wiring.

Any idea how far I can lower the tank without disconnecting the fuel lines? 04 110 TD5

The honest answer is no. But you have to lower the tank to disconnect the pump, as there is no other way, so think you will be fine.

Duh. Dumb question. I forgot as I cut an access panel in the floor so I've never dropped the tank to swap pumps. Thanks again. Should I replace the large fill tube as well? It doesn't look cracked like the small one. 04 110 TD5

They don’t appear to suffer the same problem, and I’ve never read, or heard of any issues with them. They are also easy to do at any time.
