It's a solution looking for a problem though, really. We've all managed survive 10's of 000's of miles without this feature and there aren't large numbers of accidents involving low level obstructions on corners.

You can bet that if swivelling headlights had been a real game changer then it would have been widely adopted by now. This feature has been added because they can (for very little cost) rather than because it's needed. Darren

Have you driven in Cornwall alately? These little lights can be quite useful to see the hedge which lines the road, no streetlights, no curbs, just a big granite wall.

I agree not required in most parts of the country. But in certain applications they would be useful. I have considered trying to adapt one of my DRLs into this function. 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html

So they don't catch the eye and distract the driver or other road users.

I think they could eb described as a quasi comfort/safety feature. My Mrs loves hers here out in the sticks, she also thinks the heated steering wheel is the best thing since sliced bread!

We survived tens of thousands of miles as kid in the back of hot sweaty cars, (with vinyl seats) without A/C!! JB

A/C, or any other modern creature comfort, aren't touted as safety features by car manufacturers. Darren

The point was about getting used to added value systems to be fair.

However over the past 30 years I regularly see AC in the safety/convenience column of features and benefits areas in sales info and training from car manufacturers - terms like...

- Keeping windows clear and free from misting
- Improving concentration. A car interior at 30 degrees C affects concentration to the is equivalent to being at the drink drive limit etc
- health/safety by not being exposed to particulates by having the window open JB
