Looked at the right rear wheel today and it looks like the right axle member has walked out about 3/4” (popped off and lost the axle /hub cap).....and there is gear oil leaking out of the flange joint.
How bad of a situation am I looking at? Anyone seen this before? Ive just put it into garage to let things warm up before I pull the wheel.  Click image to enlarge |

That’s the grease cap I would attend to it ASAP 👍

Clearly a seal failure....
For the pic below, I had already wiped out a 1/4 cup of oil inside the hub around the axle nut. Drive member was not loose. OK.....pulled the drive member and the half shaft. Both look fine. Very little play. Tried a new drive member on the half shaft..same amount of play. The drive member freeplay in and out on the axle is about 1/2”-5/8” It had slid out enough, with sufficient pressure to not only pop off the dust cap, but my expensive boost centercap....lost somewhere on a salty road in Ottawa. What regulates the axial play on the half shaft, or is this normal? Should there be a circlip at the diff end? Could gear oil pressure have built up from the failed axle seal? Could gear oil pressure have built up from the failed axle seal?
check Axle breather pipe are not block |

Put a vacuum pump on the external end of the vent above the wheel and I could here it sucking nicely through the open axle end.
Pulled the hub and it looks like everything is fine except for the seal which looks pretty poor. Ill order up some new seals and gaskets and wait a week for shipping☹️ Click image to enlarge |

FWIW I TIG welded my axles to the flanges. No play at all.
