Sorry for the thread resurrection, but have been looking at getting a gas strut but note that you are reverting back to standard. Is there an issue with using these struts..? cheers simon |

It was just too stiff to close the door. I have noticed that there is a third gen out now with closure assist (whatever that is) so I may go back to it.

Now I'm going to hijack it too!
Presumably the type 3 is just a different gas strut which has a dampened end of stroke on compression giving less resistance to closure? If so for those of us with earlier types it should just be a case of replacing the strut with a dampened one to become "updated"... Anyone with the new one want to share the strut code so the cost can be found. I don't mind the strut as is (bought it from Co1 - its still going strong thanks mate!), but then Daisy is parked facing down a short slope... 2.4TDCI 90 - everyday brilliance S3 V8 Lightweight - in the garage being ignored #newchassistime S3 lightweight - 2nd car 24V fire risk with a full tilt and the windscreen down S1 80" - first car fun - 75mph in neutral downhill once #wobblesallround |
