Turbo health check
I think I have an original turbo on my 300tdi 23 years old (175k) and I just wondered if anyone could help list any checks I can do to the turbo to make sure it's functioning correctly and in a healthy condition?

I know about checking it for boost under load but what sort of figures would I be expecting so I can get the right range of gauge? Any other checks?

Thanks 🙂

Pull the pipe off and check the condition of the turbo. A little bit of side to side movement is ok. If you can pull it in and out it won’t be long before you need a new turbo. Standard boost pressure is about 1 bar or just over 14psi if I remember correctly
