The Cooper AT3 ain't sexy looking in my book, but do a perfect job on the road and I guess have some off road capability, though have no experience - I may have 5 for sale soon with 1,200 road miles on them due to a wheel/tyre/truck shuffle Rolling Eyes Rob

My Defender is 99% on the road, keeping it on the road I would rather have a Tyre that's good in the wet than looks good parked up or in a Muddy field Thumbs Up

Its seems a few people have agreed Wet grip isn't great on the BFG's?

So for looks and mud it seems BFG's

For Grip on road it seems the Coppers

Thumbs Up

Bit of a thread resurrection! I’ve had both sets of tyres and for me there is nothing to choose between them in the road, the BFG is a touch noisier but grip wise I felt no difference. Off road they are night and day; the BFG offers way more grip on all surfaces. It also wears better.

The question that should be asked is do you go with the AT3 sport if you are mainly road based or go with the ST maxx if you want a more off road bias but still retaining good road manners.

Unless you just like spending extra money on paying for the BFG name? Also can be found on Fb, Ytube, Insta & Twitter @4WDSouthwest

I run Cooper AT3 on road and for the price you can't fault them, handle well in typical Irish winter road conditions too.

To me its the best Road going All terrain out there. I've run BFGs ATs too and for the extra money they are not worth it, unless you are doing field work, muddy tracks etc.

Picture below is 265/75 R16 on the 110 High Cap.

i fitted a set of cooper AT3 at the weekend and first impressions are good, a lot quieter, the old BF all terrains were down to about 5mm and were all over the place on wet roads the car spends most of the time on tarmac only time its off road is during the shooting season. nobody is perfect but being Scottish is a start

Here's mine. 'cooper'

I had BFG KM2 for 6 months, then reverted to BFGAT2 on my previous 110, I decided to go less aggressive as I spent more time on tarmac when i brought this 110.

Just to add my infrequent two penneth worth ,Having had both sets Bfg all day long
on looks BUT.....cracks on the walls Externally and more scarely inside (bought new 7 years old 9mm tread left on)
fooked .Thought id give the a/t 3 a try (got 4 for free)What a difference ,great tyre ,good in the wet, quiet ,actually do look ok
All round I feel a far better choice Just my opinion (which in reality counts for nowt) Laughing Laughing one life, sell it

Expedition portal did a review that included the AT3 and the older BFG KO and the AT3 won hands down.

I've never been at all impressed with the performance of the KO or KO2 on vehicles that I've travelled with. I've not had the comparison of the same tyre size as you can't get BFG AT in 7.50R16 but based on what I've seen I would not be rushing out to buy the BFGs.

They don't perform very well on BT's cherry pickers as I found out recently when I had to tow one out of a flat, dry field.
