Definitive solution to window frame corrosion...
Has anyone with a recent(ish) Puma managed to successfully treat and repaint the front window frame without corrosion returning (in the form of bubbling paintwork under the seal)

I had my 2012 110 “repaired” under warranty around 3-4 years ago at main dealers (screen out, re-spray) but corrosion is back with a vengeance. Even where the window rubber was sealed with Arbomast (to try and prevent water sitting under the seal), it’s bubbling. This has re-occurred both on front screen and also one of alpine windows.

I can have this done again, or even do it myself but I’m loathe to spend time/money for it to come back in another 3 years time. Anyone had success with a permanent solution? 2012 110 XS SW Orkney Grey

May sound daft, but I put a old 1990 200tdi screen frame in my TDCi, it hadn’t a hint of corrosion at 26 years old, I stripped and resprayed it to match the tdci and is still perfect four years later.

I am in the same situation but i'm going to try and do it myself.
Did you do anything about yours?

I have just had my windscreen surround and associated areas resprayed by a local company here in Wales, they did a lovely looking job but used new screen supports as they wouldn't reuse the original because of the excessive corrosion. Unfortunately as I look around the vehicle I can see white lines appearing from under the cappings where those total tos...rs at land Rover have not treated the parts before assembly. It's such a heart sink. I have owned the vehicle since new in 2013, i clear wax oiled the under side and inside the chassis the day after I got it and I redo it every year, it's kept in the dry and has only done 32000 miles. As much as I can I keep it immaculate although It is worked and gets dirty. It's the last new Land Rover product that I shall ever buy.

I had the same problem with the window surround - LR Hull fixed it 15 months ago. I had an independent do it again late last year.
You can clearly see how much thicker the paint is around the joins in the metal. Hopefully, it will last a little longer this time.
LR also did the corner cappings. Corrosion there is back, but I think I'll wait until it's bad and just replace the cappings with galvanized unless I get alternative advice on here.

The replacement NAS bumper is also showing rust. Frustratingly, so is the rear cross member where they chipped the paint while replacing.

I had the side steps replaced at the same time - the new ones (fire and ice?) haven't corroded yet, but the silver areas look mottled. Not sure what's going on there, but will leave alone.

I've recently had my Puma (MY2015) to the local dealers for corrosion around the screen frame and particularly at the bottom corner joints.

I asked the dealer if they would replace the frame with new rather than try and repair. They said it was some considerable time ago that they realised trying to repair the frame was futile and now automatically replace with new. Let's just hope the new one they recently fitted to mine was better than the original one fitted at the factory. Fingers crossed time. Defender 90XS SW
