engine capacity
If we measured the cubic capicity of the forth coming 2.2l Defender in "half cc's",that would make the forth coming Defender engine a 4.4. Simple is'nt it? Mr. Green 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Actualy it would still be a 2.2 ............ 4.4 half CC's = 2.2 Razz Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

Sorry to move in on the post, but the dealer has told me that if I order a new defender now (hi cap), it will be the much talked about 2.2, but he can not give me any more info...........................

I have done searches, but can anyone answer the following:
what hp and torque is it, is it the transit, freelander or other engine?

Depending on the above, could after market tuning be easier on this engine.

Thanks and we can now get back to cubic capacity.... Thumbs Up

It will be the Transit engine. Rumoured to be tuned to give the same output as the present unit.Seems nothing will change figure wise except the it will be 2.2 instead of 2.4. Will also have a Diesel Particulate Filter or DPF which is not fitted to the present unit. Lots of discussion about it on this site. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

You'd think they'd update the LR website at least.. Still says it's got the 2.4 engine on there. Bit daft if you order a new one and it rolls up with a 2.2
