Here is an article on adding 2 stroke to your fuel. There is a question and answer section at the bottom.

Do you suppose that when they say "Seaman's fuel system" they're talking about ships or do they mean Siemens?

Good spot. An eye for the little details Mr Holmes! I found it interesting regarding the explanation as to why only mineral oil should be used. I never knew why synthetic was a no no. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

I'm sure if you do a search, this was argued to death about three or four years ago.

The conclusive answer, there wasn't one Laughing

2 stroke oil changes the sound of the engine because it changes the combustion temperature.

If you want to know, how to lubricate a modern engine, check this link

as we used to say on the 306 forum back in the day, just run it on veg Very Happy

joke a side, I did read a few lads used to put 2 stroke oil in the hdi tanks when they used to fill up. All it did was quiet down the injector tick. To me I rather leave a lone, if its not bust don't fix it. Thumbs Up Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

I ran this stuff in my D3 from 2009 to 2016, in that time it covered 160k miles !

Tesco were selling the Castrol Actevo off at £1.07 a litre which at that time was cheaper than fuel, as I only ever fill from empty to brim I poured a litre in at every fill. I bought hundreds of litres of the stuff in boxes and evenly distributed it about the D3 forum at meets and at the factory tours we used to do, it certainly quietened the engine from cold start in sub zero temps, despite all the panic at the time that car was passed on to a family member and it’s done nearly 210k miles . Nothing engine related in terms of issues or fuel system related.

I’m still finding bottles of the stuff in the garage ! I haven’t used it In anything since the DPF applications and my current car is Petrol. DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN
