Anybody having experience with these for a bit of time? Opinions pro and con? Seriously thinking about installing these still before winter. Picture below.

I don't have the heated version, but they are by far the best incarnation of the JWSpeaker headlight.
I've had the original, EVO and EVOII and the EVOII is by far the brightest, with the best spread of light 
I believe the effective lumens of the heated version is slightly lower than the non heated version, but being dual burn will go some way to combat that problem
Edit. The ones in my defender have been in for about 5 years and my RRC for 1 year. I can't help with the heated version but I had a fault with my original Evos and upgraded to the Evo2 Dual Burn, the difference is amazing! Well worth it in my opinion.
Worth also mentioning that the customer service from Mobilecentre was second to none

Has anybody with these newer dual burn Speakers also have electric headlights height adjustment which came standard with the higher spec Puma Defenders? Any trouble with that feature in combination with these recent Speakers?
Asking this because years ago I had installed the first generation Speaker EVO headlights and I always had trouble with the headlight levelling motor at one side of my Defender. Was fully sorted with a new levelling motor and reverting back to the SVX Cristal halogen headlights. Still wonder if the Speaker EVO (it’s weight or form maybe???) had anything to do with that problem, hence my question. Eric You never actually own a Defender. Thanks. There should be the standard H4 plug with the positive for high and for low beam and the negative for the entire lamp, and separately a red wire for the parking light positive, and a blue wire for the DRL function positive. I’m not going to use the DRL function as I want to keep my current bumper with already built in DRLs, so will not connect the blue wire.
Would be great if you could post a picture of how they look with only the parking lights on, never seen that. Best, Eric You never actually own a Defender. I’ve just had these fitted, but not actually seen them myself yet. I was going to do the same as you ref the DRLs, but the heater circuitry is powered off the DRL feed! Makes sense, I suppose, as it will always be live and ready to keep the glass clear. NG |

Oops. That’s an issue then for me. I don’t see me driving with two sets of DRL, probably even illegal, and I hate the idea to disconnect my current rectangular DRL in the bumper which I like better than a halo DRL. Now what?

Thinking about this... are you sure that it is correct that the heater is powered off the DRL feed? And by nothing else? As far as I know EU regulations say that DRL (which is a strong non-directional light which blinds oncoming traffic at night) must either go off entirely or switch to reduced power once a car’s parking lights and/or low/high beam are turned on. In the case of these Speakers where the DRL and the parking light apparently are using the same halo, it must mean that when you turn the parking light or the low beam on, the blue feed for the DRL must switch off, while the red feed for the parking light takes over and illuminates the halo at reduced power as parking light. Parking light most likely stays on with low/high beam too, i.e. the same red feed for the halo, and not the DRL’s blue feed If the heating function would only be powered by the DRL, there would be no heating anymore once parking and/or low beam come on. Therefore, could it be that both the blue feed for the DRL, as well as the red feed for the parking light would provide power for the heating element? Irrespective if you drive with no lights on (so with DRL), or with parking lights (eventually plus low/high beam) there would then always be power to the heating element. If this is correct, then I could install them, not connecting the blue feed at all, but still have the heating working while parking lights or low/high beam are on. What think? I would imagine the heater is fed from the dipped/main beam feed. It'll draw quite a bit of current which the original H4 connector would happily supply

I haven’t seen any wiring diagrams, I was just passing on what was told to me by my mechanic. Maybe an email to JW Speaker will get you the answers you need? Heated glass is definitely a good idea in snow if my EVO 1’s are anything to go by. Nowhere near hot enough to keep clear. NG |
