Brake Fluid Consumption
All, Hand brake/ warning light came on Saturday when going downhill / Braking.

Topped up My brake Fluid this morning and all ok.

Problem is it went from 100% to 40% in about three months. (say 800 miles)

I'm currently driving around with a broken ABS, and semi worn rear pads.

Is this sort of consumption normal or to be expected given my circumstances? I'm on IG: https://www.instagram.com/osloblue42/

i would park it up as you have a leak or split pipe.

not safe to drive it for sure.
broken abs does not mean fluid loss normally,
nor does worn pads to the extent you describe.

in basic terms when all components are new the fluid should be at the upper level in the resevoir then its sized so that as the discs / pads wear to their minimum it will drop to its lowest level - you should never have to add fluid between times

Spot on- I had a leak on the P38 which I initially thought was a sensor problem, but no it was a cracked pipe and leak. It still all seemed to function ok, but best sorted asap.

As other have said, if you're using ANY brake fluid you need to investigate urgently. You should never lose a drop, and any loss is indicative of a serious defect.

Ah so it could be that my rear pads have finally worn.

Still worth Mentioning it to my tech and hopefully get it checked by a professional.

Last thing i want to do is rear-end someone trying to brake.

Edit: looks like i'm taking a four hour train journey Wednesday. I'm on IG: https://www.instagram.com/osloblue42/

Also going to check the level when i get home.

Its actually a good thing that there is a sensor that can tell you as to what level your brake fluid is at. I'm on IG: https://www.instagram.com/osloblue42/
