initial feedback from the workshop is that there's nothing wrong with the calipers nor the braking system.

As someone else said, it could be something else in the suspension which is causing this, so they're checking other things tomorrow. --

Netherlands 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Stornoway Grey
I experienced something similar with my Disco 1. Turned out to be the track rod. It was very slightly bent. No issues when driving, but when braking it acted a bit like a spring. Braking harder made things a bit scary....

Just got the landy back: they fitted Terrafirma Medium coils in front to match the rear, and wheel alignment was done (it was way out).

They checked the braking system on rollers - all wheels are getting the same amount of braking +-5%. I'm told this is not enough to notice, and the spec goes +-30%.

It drives better, but there's still a hint of pulling under hard braking - I doubt anyone else will notice it though.

I think it's time to find another indie... --

If it's with tolerance on the rollers, as stated, then look to radius or trailing arm bushes. Cheers

Remember weight shifts with intertia dependant on speed.
Under braking the weight will shift to the front axle and or extra force applied to steering components also.
If any component is unequal from left to right then that will cause a pull to one way or the other.
Have you had a look at the damper Bushes and springs?
Beyond that, take a look at steering components ball joints etc.
This is in addition to what JST mentioned previously.

I'd check the cheaper easier things first, as most of the time this is the issue.

Nope, no leaks anywhere, and the brake fluid level hasn't changed.

Yes, tyre pressures are equal.

Going to see a new indie today, we're going to drive together and then he'll put it on the lift to see if he can spot anything outright. --

As custom90steve says, but also do check track rod and steering rod for 'straightness' (is this how you say that?). If not completely straight, it can cause weird steering behaviour under (hard) braking.
And it is quite possible to get the tracking fine without one of the rods being straight, so might not be as obvious as it looks.

Ok, went to see a new indie today whom a lot of our club members have recommended.

Car was on the lift, and we did a full inspection - a number of things he wasn't happy with, including the rear propshaft not being bolted on tightly enough, some bushes not the correct spec, etc.

He also bled the brakes and we went for a drive - problem sorted!

He's keeping the car for a few days to systematically work through the ongoing drivetrain vibration issue. --

Issue was resolved by Auto Excellence: they found the front left bearing to be a bit loose and added a shim to tighten things up - it now drives very well and brakes in a straight line! --
