Gaydon is excellent!
Try to spend some time in the cinema if you can, some of the old footage of production lines and adverts is fantastic Last edited by rustandoil on 14th Feb 2014 8:09pm. Edited 1 time in total |

I live quite close and go there often to visit the reading room. What I find sad about Gaydon is that they have thousand upon thousands of historic photographs to which nobody has access. They want to change insane amounts of money to get to see the images. They also do not keep any record of the number plates shown on any photographs...crazy. 2011 110 USW

I get to go a couple of times a year for free when work book the conference centre. If you gift aid your entry you get a season ticket as well which I have managed to use to get into a couple of the shows. www.td5.org

When me and my dad went 4 years ago, I think they had just started to plan the extension so that they could show off more of the cars. I would go back again though to see what they have in show. I was down there for the weekend, we had the metro 35th and 25th birthday there. My car was on the metro time line and I won the most distance travelled too. Got to ride in a Metro 6R4, which made me go blind! I can still hear that V6 growling now!
Bit of a long trip down just to vist for the day sadly. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

Not been to Gaydon but 30 odd years ago the BL collection was at Syon Park outside of London and I visited it quite often then! Cheers Don.

Crikey I had forgotten that I'd started this thread back in 2014
We went and had a good day, even SWMBO who is about as interested in cars as I am in Strictly, enjoyed it. |

I have visited many times as a comfort break when pounding the route from Stirling to West London. When I first started dropping in I used to use the conference entrance and only use the loos and the cafe (which is good value BTW). But last time I was there they wanted a full admission to do the same thing. Another thing I found when I hosted a BabyRR forum get together there was that if you are a member of a “club” (includes forums) you can get a discount on the entry fee..... these days I fly or let the train take the strain (it’s cheaper and less wearing, even when I was driving my RRS or L322 for the trip, getting fed and watered on the shorter train trip is also nicer than motorway cafes) and I don’t enjoy driving among the frequently idiotic drivers on the M40 any more. 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |
