Replacement front TD5 disk brakes -
Sp, the front ( vented) disks need replacing on Gertie our favourite TD5 110

1st though is lets go for the version that has slots etc..

Britpart do some at < £100

EBC do
One pair of slotted upgrade brake discs, slots dispel gasses and debris and give quiet braking. Manufactured from unique disc alloys and black Geomet coated for corrosion resistance. These discs are runout tested.

At ~£200

Black diamond do some at a hell of a lot more

Not many people seem to say what the difference is . o.k. EBC make some mention but black diamond don't and britpart don't

Ok, I may be able to help here. I have used both the Britpart drilled and grooves and WBC dimples and grooves vented discs in my TD5 110.

I went from standard to Britpart and had them fitted for five years worth of driving (married to EBC pads). They were brilliant, can’t fault them at all. Noticeably better than the standard discs under hard braking and didn’t fade as quickly as the standard discs when working hard with trailers attached or steep switch back descents.

They came to the end of their life about 12 months ago, when I swapped to EBC discs and pads on the front. The difference between them... not noticeable at all...! Time will tell how Worthwhile the anti corrosion coating is worth... £100?! Probably not...

Incidentally I have the Britpart non vented drilled and grooved discs on the rear and when they bite they stop the behemoth that is Miffy like she has just had an anchor deployed from the rear cross member...!

The only issue is that EBC do not do a pad for the rear of the 110, only the 90. My next pads will be Brembo pads as they do a 110 specific pad.

I believe I have photos of the install some place if you are interested...

Many many thanks for this. Britpart it is for next set of disks which do need replacing real soon nowish.

Going down really steep hills in French alps with fully laden 110 including 5 bikes on the back and tandem/roofbox on top really needed better brakes.

There is talk on these forums that in addition to uprated discs and pads replacing the DOT4.1 brake fluid with DOT5.1 makes for a much firmer pedal and less chance of boiling the brake fluid.
