the age of the tyres become a problem.

These tyres last for 50k miles or more and getting a set that's already a few years old, by the time you've worn them, they'll be well out of date and cracking etc and need replacing.

In the long run, if you intend to keep the car, it's cheaper to buy new IMO.

It depends also if you drive a lot.

I understand any decent tyre with decent tread wouldn't be £30 but am interested in a set with sort of 8mm or more tread at a reasonable price for the amount it has been used.
