Child seat fitment
I have a 1984 One_Ten CSW. This has no facility to fit child seats to the middle row of seats.
Question is, what did Land Rover do to the seats for the middle row to enable fitment of such devices? I have seen later Tdi and TD5 models with child seats fitted so presumably Land Rover did something to the seats?
Puma seats are an entirely different design and thus not relevant to this question It is not a Defender, it is a One_Ten

Do you have seat belts for the middle row?

When my girls were younger we used car seats in a 1994 tdi (it had the three individual middle row seats) and we used a Britax car seat that worked with either 3 point or lap seat belts and it fitted in any position.

No, it is quite a basic thing when you consider that it is a CSW It is not a Defender, it is a One_Ten

I expect it would be easy enough to get some seat belts fitted but maybe expensive for some of the fittings. Attached are the parts list.

Is there at least a lap strap type belt? Some child seats are compatible with these.

Whoops, just re-read, no seatbelts... Current Steeds:

Thank you for the replies chaps. The child seats to be fitted have no reliance upon seat belts. They clip to some small brackets at the back of the seats and have a self contained chest pad which retains the small person within the confines of their seat It is not a Defender, it is a One_Ten

I think the blunt answer to your question, is Land Rover probably did nothing, given that it wasnt until 1989 wearing a rear seat became compulsory for under 14 year olds.

I remember my Dad popping down to the local Halfords/Car spares place and buying belts to retro fit, but I think there were only lap belts.

As a proper answer to your question, you should be able to retro fit belts from a later model, and possibly worth looking at swapping to a high backed seat as well. Is there a specialist breakers nearby that you could strip at least the mounting point parts from? 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone
2002 - Black Discovery II - Gone
2014 - Montalcino Red 110 XS SW

This seat was isofix if it was there and fixed using any three point belt if it wasn’t. It then grew with my daughter and has only just been full removed at the age of nine. As long as mounting points are there you can put a belt in.

Again, thank you for the replies chaps. Not only are there no seat belts, there aren't any mounting points either. Though there are diagrams and measurements in the parts list which show where they should be. It is not a Defender, it is a One_Ten

Sounds like your child seats are isofix, and Defenders have never been fitted with isofix-compatible seats, even the Puma.

Exmoor trim used to do seatbelt kits - might be worth speaking to them?

I've just bought two isofix brackets from another manufacturers dealership as aftermarket parts, and am busily welding in a 50mm X 50mm 6mm wall thickness bar that runs the width of the vehicle to weld them to, supporting it off the inside of my external cage mounts.

Opinions differ but I personally rate isofix.

So I wanted to make it work.

I've not found an easier solution of isofix is your chosen route.
