You can use one of the two-wire Facet solid-state (cube type) pumps, connecting red wire to chassis and black as feed.

You could get a new pump of the original type (deep pockets needed) but why not convert to neg earth?

Richard, plenty of early 2.25 petrol Ninetys get vapour lock, with electric pumps.
Surely the answer is to solve the vapour lock, rather than change the pump? Just an after thought - Most early coilers with electric pumps have a flow and return system to a swirl-pot and then gravity feed to the carb. Very early 2.25 petrol One Tens (such as the one I am beginning to work on) have the same mechanical fuel pump as yours. However, they have a special carb with a Y-shaped connection for the flow and return fuel pipes to merge at the same entry point on the carb. Will you have a flow and return set-up for your electric pump? |

Thanks for the responses. Why not change to negative earth? I have invested in a Simon BBC positive earth distributor a couple of years back and this set up is working well. Charles, I was looking at this - http://www.webcon.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=48 This looks like an in line pump with no return. That said i could fit one (a return) as described and as fitted to early coil sprung Land Rover's. I have replaced the mechanical pump, moved and insulated the fuel line to see no real improvement. Someone recommended a heat shield to protect the carb from the manifold. I have overcome the lock by pumping the mechanical pump by hand, so in theory an electric pump would be doing this better than the small hand crank pump lever Anyway keep any suggestions coming  2010 XS USW

I am using a new su aua25 points pump on my series one from burlen (positive earth as well) these work on both polarities and will last for years and years. 1953 80"
