United Kingdom 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 DCPU Stornoway Grey
Part no. question...
Does anyone know the difference between LR027944 and FTC5402 ?

Both part numbers are for the horrible little roll-pin that nearly secures the cross shaft in the 2-gear Rover pattern diff used in front and rear of Def 90s, and front only of most 110 and 130 (before the rather better 4-gear diff was used).

LRCAT indicates that FTC5402 was used up to VIN BA822269 and LR027944 thereafter, but the letter B year code seems somewhat ambiguous indicating either 1987 or 2011, which really isn't helpful!

I believe that the diff I need a pin for dates between 2007 and 2010, so it is either before or after the quoted VIN number, making the whole thing rather farcical!

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thank you, obvious when you put it like that!

That would mean that I need the FTC5402 part, which is probably the Teflon-coated one that allows the diff cross-pin to fall out after a predetermined mileage!
