Took the plunge doing he rear cross member today using buzzweld. Took all the rust off with the random orbit sander, started with a flap disc but was way too harsh. I put the first coat of rust converter primer on too thick and it cracked as it dried, so I ended up sanding that back and starting again. Did 6 or 7 thin coats of primer and then about 5 of the gloss black and I’m very please with the result. Did the tow ball etc as well, but won’t refit that until it has fully hardened.
Went a bit OTT in the masking, but having never sprayed before I opted for better safe than sorry!! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Very nice, great result. A job I bought all the spray for ages ago and never got round to. James

The wife walked out part way through and commented about masking up to the roof line: “how crap do you think you are at this?”

All back together now. Very happy with how this turned out. Big thanks to Yatesy as well for the stainless mud flap brackets.
